Synopsis:

Aaron MacManus challenges and wins against the cruel leader of the local vampire kiss. Now, as the new master of the kiss, he has to win the loyalty of the kiss, but Carlos’s reign of terror has left deep scars on the morale of the kiss. When Aaron visits an influential vampire couple, the Carlovettis, he doesn’t expect betrayal from within his own guard.

Sara Temple is on the run from the supreme council of the magical realm. A trained assassin, Sara’s job is to protect the queen at all costs. The queen is missing, and the council blames Sara for her disappearance. Sara is hiding in the human realm until all can be set right.

Sara knows her bosses are vampires, but they’re good, fair people, and she can’t hold that against them. When Sara senses the Carlovettis are in mortal danger from rogue vampires, she sets out to rescue her bosses, even if it means saving the arrogant new kiss master Aaron Mac Manus in the process. Striking a deal with Aaron, she’ll save him as long as he agrees to end her life. A quick death is a better death than what the council has planned for her if they catch her. Sara saves them all but doesn’t come out unscathed.

Aaron is aware of who Sara is to him, and killing her is the last thing on his mind, but Sara may be more than the vampire can handle. Her ability to read minds will help him settle into his new role as the master of the kiss. Whether he wants to admit it or not, Aaron needs her protection for what’s coming.

Sara needs Aaron’s support and protection, too, but is too stubborn to ask. In the tug of war of wills, Sara falls in love with the arrogant vampire. And when the supreme council catches up with Sara, she may lose more than her life.
