Genre: Sci-Fi Thriller/Suspense
Synopsis:

In a near-future America, the federal government has quietly eliminated public elementary schools, replacing them with tightly controlled institutions run by the Federal Bureau of Education. Parents are told the changes are necessary to improve education. In reality, children are being taken.

Abby Muse, a mother already traumatized by the disappearance of her eldest son years earlier, believes she has finally found safety for her youngest child, Dillon, by enrolling him in what appears to be a small, rural school hidden in the woods. When she arrives unexpectedly to pick him up, she finds the school eerily empty—no teachers, no children, no answers. Moments before government enforcers known as the Takers arrive, Abby is pulled into a hidden underground network operating beneath the school.

The Underground is a secret resistance made up of teachers, parents, and ordinary citizens who have learned to read the signs the government cannot fully erase—unnatural silences, coded behaviors, and the subtle disturbances that precede the Takers’ arrival. They protect children in secret, running hidden schools and orphanages while working to uncover the truth behind the government’s program.

As Abby becomes more deeply involved, she learns that children taken at age five are often returned years later—physically healthy, but emotionally altered. Some are not who they claim to be. DNA testing reveals replacements. Memories erased. Identities rewritten.

When evidence surfaces linking the government’s schools to a nationwide network of orphanages and covert facilities, Abby is forced to confront a horrifying possibility: the government is not simply educating children—it is reshaping them. Conditioning them. Turning them into something obedient, empty, and controllable.

The Underground launches a risky operation to save hundreds of children from confiscation, forcing Abby to step fully into the fight. Along the way, she must learn to trust coded language, conceal her emotions in public, and weaponize appearances to survive constant surveillance.

Everything changes when DNA testing confirms that a mysterious runaway with white hair and silver eyes is Abby’s missing son. He remembers her. He remembers his father’s murder. And he knows more than anyone else about what happens inside the schools.

With time running out and the government closing in, Abby must choose between remaining hidden to protect her younger child or exposing herself to rescue her son—and possibly ignite a larger rebellion. As the Underground prepares for confrontation, Abby discovers that the most dangerous truth isn’t what the government has done to the children…
…it’s what they plan to do with the first generation that comes back.
THE TAKERS is a grounded sci-fi thriller about parental instinct, identity, and resistance—where survival depends on trust, silence, and the courage to question everything.

In the near future, Abby Muse flees California to save her youngest son, Dillon, from the Takers, who are federal agents sent to assume custody of all America’s five-year-old children and place them into the government’s elementary school, which they’ve hidden from the public in an unknown location. Not only do the Takers fly hovercrafts in front of thunderclouds and use its lightning as a weapon, they kill to take the children, as they had done to Abby’s husband when he stood in their way of confiscating their eldest son, Ethan. Her only goal is to hide Dillon and somehow hold Ethan in her arms again.

In Washington state, Abby meets Doctor Will Henderson, who introduces her to the Underground, a nationwide organization vowing to find the school and discover why the Takers School’s students are being embedded with chips in their frontal lobes and why their memories are altered. What they encounter could end humanity.
